FAQ

Quick answers to the questions people ask most.

Why does BRUNE exist?

Runes were supposed to be Bitcoin's memecoins, but Bitcoin confirms a block about every ten minutes. BRUNE keeps each Rune a real Rune on Bitcoin and uses BNB Chain for the liquidity and the speed: trades take about a second. See Why we built BRUNE.

Is my Rune a real Bitcoin Rune?

Yes. Every BRUNE Rune is etched on Bitcoin, its full supply is held in its own 2-of-2 custody address to back the BNB Chain token 1:1, and its logo and details are inscribed with it.

Can BRUNE move the Runes on its own?

Not with its key alone. Each coin's Runes sit at a 2-of-2 address: every payout needs BRUNE and an independent co-signer on the Internet Computer, which only signs real Bridge-to-Bitcoin requests it reads on BNB Chain itself. The one exception is a backup: if the Runes have not moved for about 12 months (52,560 blocks), BRUNE's key alone can move them, so they can never be stuck.

Nobody can change the co-signer's rules quickly, BRUNE included: its only controller is a timelock that publishes every upgrade 48 hours before it can run, and the timelock itself has no controller. Check any coin on the verify page.

Can I always sell my Rune?

On BNB Chain, yes. Every BRUNE Rune trades against a pool that always quotes a price: the bonding curve, and after graduation its PancakeSwap pool. You never have to find a buyer. On Bitcoin, Runes are sold through marketplace listings that wait for a buyer, which is why BRUNE Runes trade on BNB Chain. See Bringing Runes back.

Why is my Rune's name a long string of letters?

Because a Rune name is an address, not a brand. Bitcoin assigns each BRUNE Rune a reserved name, the way a chain assigns a contract address, and your Rune's real name and ticker live in its metadata. Want your own? Choose one on the create form. See Rune names are addresses.

Why does my Rune's address end in 7777?

Flap gives every tax token an address ending in 7777, and every BRUNE coin is one. It is not proof of anything: other Flap tokens end in 7777 too. Always open a Rune on www.brune.tech to be sure it is a BRUNE Rune.

Can two Runes have the same name or ticker?

Yes, like any two tokens on BNB Chain. Tell them apart by the CA or the Rune ID shown on every Rune page.

Why are prices in BTC?

Every BRUNE Rune is paired with BTCB, Bitcoin on BNB Chain. Pricing in BTC keeps both sides of the Rune in the same unit. You can still pay and get paid in BNB: it is converted in the same transaction.

Do I need BTCB?

No. You can launch, buy and sell with BNB only. The BTCB you will see is your creator fees and holder dividends, which are paid in BTCB. Swap them to BNB in your wallet or on PancakeSwap whenever you like.

Can I change my Rune after launch?

No. The name, ticker, image and links are locked at launch and inscribed on Bitcoin, and the fee mode is fixed in the coin's vault. Check them before you approve.

Can anyone create more tokens?

No. The whole supply is minted once when the token is created, and the Rune has no open mint. The supply is 1,000,000,000 forever.

What happens if tokens are burned?

They are gone from circulation for good, and the same amount of Rune is locked in custody forever. Every token left is still backed 1:1, and the bridge keeps working. See Burned tokens.

My Rune says "Bitcoin soon". Is something wrong?

No. Your Rune trades on BNB Chain immediately; it is etched in the next Bitcoin block and becomes final after 6. While it says Rune etching, the etch is sent and waits for that block: follow it on mempool.space from the Rune page. Bitcoin finds a block about every 10 minutes on average, sometimes much later.

Why did my trade fail?

Usually because the price moved more than your slippage (1% by default) before your trade landed, or the wallet did not have enough balance for the amount plus network fees. Your funds stay in your wallet; try again.

Who can claim a coin's creator fees?

They are always paid to the wallet that launched it (or to the recipients chosen at launch), from Account. See Creator fees.

What if my launch quote expires?

Nothing is charged. Quotes last 10 minutes; start the launch again to get a fresh one.

I did not add a website. What do people see?

Your Rune's BRUNE page, https://www.brune.tech/rune/<CA>, is used as its website everywhere the metadata is shown.

Is there protection against snipers?

Your dev buy happens inside the launch transaction itself, so no one can trade your coin before you do.

How many tokens does my dev buy get?

The create form shows the exact number as you type. As a guide, ₿0.01 (in BNB) gets about 15.6% of the supply. See What a dev buy gets.

Why is the trading fee 2%?

Flap charges 1% on every curve trade and takes a share of the 1% tax; the rest of the tax pays creators, holders and BRUNE. After graduation the fee drops to 1.25%. See Fees.

What is $BRUNE?

BRUNE's own token. For every 0.01 BTCB BRUNE earns, on any coin or on $BRUNE itself, 0.0025 BTCB buys back $BRUNE and burns it, and 0.645% of every $BRUNE trade goes to its holders in BTC. See $BRUNE.

How do I contact BRUNE?

Email support@brune.fun. BRUNE will never ask for your seed phrase or private key.
